Barber stabbed by customer for ‘Angry Bird’ haircut

FOR giving him an “Angry Bird” haircut, a 26-year-old barber was stabbed in the chest by one of his customers outside his shop in barangay Ibabao, Cordova town at 2 a.m yesterday.

The victim identified as Rastel Abendan, a resident of Inayawan, Cebu City was rushed to Lapu-Lapu City Hospital and was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City for further treatment.

The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Olandria, believed to be in his mid 20s and a resident of sitio Tugbongan, barangay Pilipog in Cordova town.

Olandria was identified by the victim’s friend Earl Gadiani, a 28-year-old resident of Inayawan, Cebu City.

PO3 Rovelio Librado of the Cordova police said Abendan and Gadiani were talking outside the barber shop in Barangay Ibabao when Olandria approached them and asked Abendan if he saw his friend whom he named as a certain “Macmac.”

Before Abendan could reply, Olandria whipped out an ice pick and stabbed him in the chest then fled the scene.  Gadiani rushed Abendan to the hospital and reported the attack to the police.

Gadiani told police that Olandria and Abendan argued the night before, with Olandria complaining that his haircut was too short and he was ridiculed by his friends who described his new look as “Angry Birds.”

Gadiani heard Abendan saying he thought it was what Olandria wanted.

He said he thought the argument had been forgotten. Attempted homicide charges are being readied against Olandria. Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
