FORMER MAYOR’S BROTHER SHOT

A BROTHER of the former mayor of Consolacion town, northern Cebu was shot by an unidentified assailant Wednesday night.

Joselito Gungob sustained a gunshot wound in the back. The victim is the brother of former mayor Avelino Gungob.

No clear motive has been established yet in the shooting, police said.

Police said the victim was playing mahjong in barangay Pulpogan when the assailant appeared from behind and opened fire.

Gungob was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City.

Police rushed to the area but failed to locate the assailant.

MAN FOUND DEAD IN TREE HOUSE

A 63-YEAR-OLD man was found dead by his wife in a tree house in barangay Tayud, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.

Nicasio Pepito had a heart condition which may have caused his death, said PO2 Nelson Ariate of the Consolacion police.

The man’s wife told police that her husband left home past 4 p.m. yesterday and failed to return home since then.

The wife said she asked around neighborhood but no one claimed to have seen the man.

The woman then went to a tree house and was shocked to see her husband lying unconscious.
