Cavite police: Not enough evidence to link Senator Revilla to guns

MANILA, Philippines – The Cavite Police Provincial Office said there is not enough evidence to link Senator Ramon Bong Revilla to the firearms recovered outside the compound of the Revilla’s mansion in Cavite before dawn Monday.

Superintendent Rommel Estolano, Cavite Provincial Police Office spokesman, also said their investigation focused on five firearms that were recovered inside several vehicles parked outside the Revilla’s home in Barangay (village) Panapaan 7, Bacoor City.

Estolano said six alleged members of the National Bureau of Investigation were the ones using the vehicles with plate numbers XTD-628, XEE-253, XCZ-957, WTK-503, and a red Toyota Vios with conduction sticker TL-8227.

The agents were identified as Honor Santos, Efifanio Baria, Rosauro Estardo, Rizalos Ronario, Danilo Cruz, and Frederick Galvez. They were later arrested when they were reported to be carrying firearms—a violation of the election omnibus code.

In a radio interview, Revilla cried harassment.

Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., Philippine National Police spokesman, said the agents claimed they have a legitimate operation in the area that is sanctioned by the NBI headquarters.

This, however, was denied by NBI officials in Manila, Cerbo said.

As of press time, Cerbo said elements of the Bacoor police are currently applying for search warrants for the long firearms seen in the vehicles used by the group of NBI agents.

Police are also preparing a case against the agents.
