Pampanga bet, staff member hurt in QC road accident

MANILA, Philippines – A local candidate in Pampanga and a member of his staff were injured when his sports utility vehicle rammed a concrete barrier in Quezon City early Wednesday morning.

Raul Macalino, 50, and his staff Alberto Parungao, were hurt following the accident on Mindanao Avenue in Barangay (village) Bahay Toro.

Traffic investigator Police Officer 1 Oscar Sese said Macalino is a candidate for vice mayor in Lubao, Pampanga. He is currently a board member of the province’s third district.

The two men were onboard a dark blue Mitsubishi Montero (license plate NMQ-708) with Macalino behind the wheel.

The SUV was cruising on the southbound lane when it swerved left and smashed into a concrete barrier.

Sese said the sports utility vehicle then careened into opposite lane and slammed into the water meters of a house on Mindanao Avenue near Pluto Street. Police learned that Macalino had reached a settlement with the homeowner regarding the damages.
