Stay away from rally areas Wednesday, motorists told
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has advised motorists on what areas to avoid Wednesday in anticipation of rallies marking Labor Day.
Recto, Legarda and Mendiola streets in Manila will be closed to motorists to give way to the rallies, said MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations Emerson S. Carlos.
The number-coding scheme will also be lifted Wednesday.
The ralliers are expected to converge from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Welcome Rotunda in Quezon City, Sta. Mesa’s Stop and Shop, Quirino and Taft Avenues, Blumentritt in Manila and the Alabang Petron station in Muntinlupa City.
They are expected to proceed to Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and then converge at Mendiola from 2 to 6 p.m.
Under the MMDA’s Task Force Labor Day, around 500 of the agency’s personnel will be deployed throughout the Metro.
