Man nabbed with pistol, grenade

POLICE arrested a 30-year-old man for bringing a gun and a grenade outside his house in barangay Upper Tingub, Mandaue City yesterday afternoon.

Rey Vicente was also caught with a pack of suspected shabu inside his pocket.

Vicente was detained at the Casuntingan Police Station pending the filing of charges of illegal possession of firearms and drugs.

Senior Insp. Ramil Morpos, deputy chief of Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) in Mandaue City said they received a call informing them that an armed man was in the Tingub area.

Morpos said they chanced upon Vicente, who pulled out a gun and ran to his house when he saw the police.

Police pursued Vicente and with guns drawn and shouted at him to stop. Vicente stopped and raised his gun above his head to surrender.

Police confiscated the unlicensed .45 pistol loaded with bullets, the pack of shabu, and the grenade. /Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
