Reward

Police yesterday welcomed the P200,000 reward offer of Pio V. Corpus, Masbate Mayor Hermenigildo Betonio for information on the whereabouts of the killer of his live-in partner, Crisanta Lauro.

Senior Supt. Mariano Natu-el, Cebu City Police Chief, said they were expecting calls from people who would give false information just to get the reward.

He said giving financial rewards would encourage witnesses to come forward but it would also interest people, who would concoct information hoping they could get the reward. /Correspondent Chito O. Aragon

Busted

Police yesterday arrested a 38-year-old man during a buy-bust operation in barangay Tangke, Talisay City.

Police handcuffed Cerna after he allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu to a polic decoy for P500.

Police also confiscated a big pack, a medium-sized pack and 19 small packs of suspected shabu worth at least P120,000.

Cerna denied the accusation and claimed that he was only watching television when the police arrived and picked him up.

Arrested

Police who were out to serve an arrest warrant on a robbery suspect also arrested a Minglanilla resident who was caught carrying an unlicensed gun.

Talisay policemen were already bringing in Louie Diaz, 22, for a robbery case when they met Isagani Villanueva along the road.

Police saw the bulge in Villanueva’s waistband and tried to stop him. Villanueva instead ran. Police however caught up with him after a chase./Correspondent Gabriel Bonjoc
