Lawman wounded in ambush
A PARAÑAQUE policeman was shot and wounded at the Baclaran public market on Black Saturday by a man he had arrested years ago. The man who fired at SPO2 Rodolfo Marcelo, 52, was identified as Alfredo Rodriguez, according to a report from the Parañaque Station Investigation and Detective Management Office. “It appears to be a personal grudge from an old case Marcelo had handled,” said city police chief Senior Superintendent Nestor Pastoral. He added that Marcelo was about to retire after serving as an anti-drug police operative. Initial investigation conducted by PO2 Johnny Margate and SPO4 Edwin Balacina showed that Marcelo was on his way home in a car being driven by his nephew when Rodriguez fired upon him and hit him in the chest and hand. The driver, however, managed to take the victim to the hospital despite a leg wound. Penelope P. Endozo
