2 firemen hurt in Quezon City blaze
MANILA, Philippines—Two firefighters were wounded in a fire that hit a residential area in Quezon City Wednesday, a fire officer said.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Rio Francisco of the Quezon City Fire Department and fire volunteer RJ Calilong were hurt in the fire, which reached the fifth alarm, said Fire Officer 1 Rean Ricato.
At least 16 fire trucks from Bureau of Fire and 10 volunteer fire trucks were deployed in the area, Ricato said.
The fire, which razed around five houses along Road 1 corner Road 5 in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City, started at 10:04 a.m. and was declared out of control at 11:32 a.m., Ricato added.
It reportedly started in a room rented by Lourdes Magno within a two-story residential house, but the cause of fire was still being determined.
