BO-PK, PNoy to attend Capitol rally; Tomas to campaign against UNA

THE Bando Osmena-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) will hold a rally to introduce their lineup along with the Liberal Party (LP) slate at the Capitol grounds on April 18.

The rally will start at 4:30 p.m and will be graced by President Benigno Aquino III.

“With President Aquino we can expect a full attendance of the LP Senate slate,” Rep. Tomas Osmeña of Cebu City’s south district said.

In a press conference yesterday, Osmeña said he will ask Cebuanos not to vote for senatorial candidates under the United Nationalist Alliance lest suspended Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia returns to the Capitol.

“The UNA candidates are backing-up Gwen Garcia. If you will let all senatorial candidates of UNA win, there’s a possibility that Gwen goes back to the throne,” Osmeña said.

Garcia was served her suspension notice last Dec. 19. “It’s okay for me if you’ll not vote for Liberal Party just don’t vote for UNA,” the congressman said.

Osmeña said there will be a motorcade and even with the President’s presence, no government resources will be used to mobilize supporters.

The BO-PK’s campaign rally at the Capitol grounds and Social Hall will be joined by LP Senate candidates.

The provincial LP candidates will hold their rally inside the social hall while BO-PK will have theirs at the Capitol grounds.

Osmeña said he doesn’t mind if Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has 42 barangay captains on his side.

He said these barangay captains come from mountain barangays that have a small voting population.

Osmeña said his 38 barangay captains come from areas with a large voting population.

“They are supporting him because Rama gave them luxury cars,” Osmeña said.

Despite the large crowd that attended the Team Rama rally at the Plaza Independencia, the congressman is not impressed.

Osmeña said he found it ridiculous that candidates sing and dance to entertain the crowd.

He said BO-PK will tap youth volunteers to give performances during their Capitol rally.

The Team Rama rally drew Manila-based celebrities brought by talent manager and congressional candidate Annabelle Rama, who regaled the crowd with performances.

“It’s silly. You think you’ll be popular because you’re bringing movie actors?” Osmeña asked.
