4 Hong Kong netters make final round of 14th Tru-Flex Nat’l Age Group

FOUR Hong Kong netters advanced to the final round of the 14th Tru-Flex National Age Group after logging wins yesterday at the Lapu-Lapu tennis court.

Clinching finals tickets in their respective divisions were Adithya Karunaratne, Chui kei Leung, Tristan Kwok and Fabien Callaud.

Sri Lankan Karunaratne, who is based in Hong Kong, led the charge after advancing in two separate divisions, the 14 and 12 & Under girls categories.

In the 14 & Under, Karunaratne will contest the title against Bais’ Angela Cabaral after scoring a 6-2, 6-3 win over Cebu’s Zethley Mae Alferez.

In the 12 & Under, Karunaratne arranged a title match against Sultan Kudarat’s Carlyn Bless Guarde after completing a 6-3, 6-2 whipping of Manila’s Alexandra Eala.

Eala has a chance to redeem herself as she grabbed a finals ticket in the 10 & Under Unisex, where she will go up against Leung.

Kwok, meanwhile, will be facing Manila’s Nio Trio for the 12 & Under boys title.

Kwok advanced to the championship round with a 6-1, 6-0 thrashing of Kanlaon’s Heart Sotto.

In the 14 & Under boys title, Callaud will go up against Bryan Otico. The visiting netter grabbed his finals ticket via a 6-3, 6-0 dismissal of Manila’s Michael Francis Eala.

In the 18 U Under boys, Lapu-Lapu’s Joshua Kinaadman hopes to notch the title against Mandaue’s Changmai Necesario.

Kinaadman earned the right to face Necesario by dismissing Cagayan de Oro’s Emmanuel Bacalares, 6-2, 6-2.
