The wife of a former barangay councilor, who was recently charged for allegedly mauling a policeman, was accused of mauling their former houseboy in barangay Banilad, Cebu City.

The complainant yesterday went to the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office, where he showed his bruises and newly healed wounds in different parts of the body.

Joseph Gumop-as, single, a native of Ubay , Bohol, was accompanied by Dr. Barnard Lumapas when he reported the alleged maltreatment to the police.

Jocelyn Joy is the wife of Zaly Perez, a former councilor in barangay Banilad.

After the incident was reported, Jocelyn was asked by police to appear in the police station.

It was Zaldy who showed up yesterday.

The former barangay councilor denied the accusations against his wife and instead accused their former helper of stealing P42,000 from them.

Zaldy said Gumop-as left after the alleged theft.

Zaldy is facing charges of direct assault and physical injuries after he was accused as one of the group of men who mauled PO1 Mar Expidito Villamonte on Wednesday afternoon.

The mauling happened outside a cockpit in barangay Estancia-Ibabao where Villamonte and fellow policeman from the Centro police precinct had gone to arrest a theft suspect.

Police are still waiting for the release of an arrest warrant before they could arrest Zaldy.

Gumop-as told police that he started working with the couple in June 2012 and was terminated sometime in December.

Gumop-as recalled that Jocelyn hit him with a hard object after he failed to cook on time.

Gumop-as alleged that the abuse was repeated when he failed to do the laundry.

PO3 Marino Lofranco, investigator of IDMB, said Jocelyn Joy could be charged of anti-torture law or physical injuries if the allegations against her are proven true.
