Ocampo siblings master Bantayan Beach Games

The Ocampo siblings turned the recent Bantayan Beach Games into a family affair by bagging the male and female titles of the Oceanman at the Sugar Beach Resort on Bantayan island.

Keith Ocampo topped the male division after crossing the finish line in 26 minutes and 44 seconds, while his sister Karmel Alyssa ruled the distaff side in 32:33.

Coming in at close second to Keith Ocampo was Jesse Arriola Jr. who was just seven seconds behind with his time of 26:51 while veteran triathlete Noy Jopson completed the top 3 by clocking 30:13.

Trailing Karmel Alyyssa Ocampo in the female division was Rue Reinhardt Panibon (35:21) while settling for third place was Lorraine Hann (35:43).

FEATURED STORIES

The Archival father and son also made their presence felt with lawyer Noel Archival taking the male 50-and-over title while his son Nyko ruled the 10-and-Under.

Other athletes who topped their respective categories were Andre Pacheko (19 below male), Joel Peconcillo (20-29 male), Jung Cases (30-39 male), Oliver Tan (40-49 male) and Loveleinell Casidsid in the 30-39 female.

The young ones also showed their immense triathlon potential with Val Chiu grabbing the 11-12 male title and Ray Michael Sasedor ruling the 13-15 male. The 13-15 female title went to Dianne Kaye Sy.

OPEN WATER SWIMMING

Arriola made up for his runner-up finish in the Oceanman by dominating the male open of the Open Water Swimming relegating Pacheco to second and Marlon Galo to third with his time of 18:23.

Karmel Alyyssa Ocampo made her trip to the island worthwhile after also bringing home the Open Water Swimming female open title. She was trailed by Cianyl Gonzales and Lorraine Hann who finished second and third, respectively.

Meanwhile, organizer Benjoe Gimenez said that next year’s edition will be held before the Holy Week.

The Bantayan Beach Games, formerly known as the Bantayan Island Sportscapade which is now on its 12th year, have always been held during the Holy Week.
