JOSE Aaron Pedrosa Jr. is a known social activist and militant leader in Cebu.

Now he will also be addressed as “attorney”.

Pedrosa, 27, son of the late Cebu City prosecutor Jose Pedrosa, was one of the 949 law graduates who passed the 2012 Bar exams.

Pedrosa is a regular presence in street protests, championing the poor’s cause on issues like tuition increases and consumer issues like high power rates.

“I hope passing the bar and being a lawyer now will further the cause for a better world, of standing up for the downtrodden and those who have been deprived of the comforts of life, enjoyed by the few. This is, after all, what the legal profession is all about – ensuring that justice prevails, in and out of court”, said Pedrosa, a graduate of the University of San Carlos law school.

Pedrosa’s family is from Tacloban, Leyte province. He lived in Cebu City after the death of his father in 2001.

Pedrosa graduated cum laude from UP Cebu in 2006 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

He first went to San Beda for his law studies in 2007. After one year, he moved back to Cebu and enrolled in the USC College of Law.

“I hope there will be more lawyers who will stand up and take the cudgels in representing the marginalized and the masses,” Pedrosa said./Correspondent Jhunnex Napallacan
