AN anti-narcotics agent was arrested yesterday in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, province where he allegedly tried to sell shabu to an undercover policeman.
A total of P100,000 worth of shabu was later found in his possession.
Intelligence officer Steven Valles, who is assigned in Cebu, was arrested in a buy-bust operation in barangay Poblacion Dos, near the pier area of Tag bilaran.
Valles, a native of Toledo City in Cebu, faces charges of drug pushing in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, a nonbailable offense, said Senior Supt. Constantino Barot, Bohol provincial police director.
Valles is assigned at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas office.
Barot said Valles allegedly sold three big packs and a half pack of shabu to a Bohol police intelligence operative.
In a radio interview, Barot said the agent tried to resist and run away but was overpowered by policemen.
He said Valles was under surveillance for two months by Bohol police before the arrest.
While Valles was assigned at the PDEA office in Cebu City, he would attend law school in Bohol on weekends.
PDEA Regional Director Adrian Alvariño said Valles had filed for a oneweek leave of absence.
Barot said it may not have been the first time Valles delivered drugs and that he may have contacts in Bohol, where he was previously assigned.
