Capitol workers get P20,000 bonus

THE Capitol announced   cash bonuses up to P20,000 per employee as it recognized its  top-performing hospitals, employees and towns during yesterday’s commemoration of  Cebu’s 442nd founding  anniversary.

At the Capitol Social Hall, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia announced the results of their  performance evaluation system.

“I do not expect your love.  I demand your professionalism and efficiency,” she told employees in her anniversary message.

Garcia, recalling her first term in 2004, said employees have “transformed” from doing work for compliance’s sake to “internalizing” and making dedicated work a “way of life.”

She said most of the  offices and hospitals being recognized were rated “very satisfactory.”

Staff members   of offices that were rated “very satisfactory” will each get a P20,000 cash incentive while those whose offices were  rated “satisfactory” will receive P15,000.

This is an increase by  P5,000 from last year’s incentive level.

In addition, employees in the five top-performing Capitol offices  will receive P15,000 for first place; then   P12,000;  10,000; P8,000 and P7,000 for second to fifth place.

Governor Garcia challenged workers to raise the bar in the “quest for excellence.”

“I know that there is nowhere to go but higher and higher,” she said.

For the weeklong Agro Fair, Santander town won the Best Booth and Early Decorated Booth awards. The town received checks for P15,000 and P5,000 respectively and a plaque.

Thirty dancing inmates from the Cebu provincial jail entertained the crowd at the Capitol grounds.

Before  the festivities, Msgr. Roberto “Boy” Alesna officiated a Mass at the Social Hall.
