Organizers gear up for Kadaugan sa Mactan
THE Kadaugan Street Party (KSP) organizers have already started preparations for the grandest activity of Lapu-Lapu City that includes Rampada.
The Rampada participants met yesterday at the Hoops Dome for the Rampada dance workshop spearheaded by the city government, in cooperation with DepEd Lapu-Lapu.
Dax Barlaan, over-all choreographer, said each group is only allowed to present a five-minute performance – a four-minute Rampada jingle and one minute introduction and extroduction.
Barlaan said participants have the discretion to present their own dance steps, movements and yellings, but with emphasis on the basic steps in Rampada.
Participants who advertise or endorse election candidates’ names on their props would be disqualified.
The Kadaugan Street Party and Rampada will be held along M.L. Quezon Highway and at the City Hall grounds on April 26 and 27 from 5 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Interested participants have until March 15 to register at the office of Councilor Harry Radaza.
There will be open and barangay category, but starting this year, organizers are adding additional attraction, which is the Higante category, to make the street party more festive and colorful. The higante float should not depict the image of the saints.
Prizes at stake are P50,000 (1st place), P35,000 (2nd place), P20,000 (3rd place), P15,000 (4th place), P10,000 (5th place) and P5,000 (6th place).
There will be also be a search for Reyna Bulakna to be competed by the Rampada’s lead dancers, a search for the best in Rampa, best in headdress, best in custume, most colourful and most lively.
The Kadaugan street party and Rampada are among the highlights of the Kadaugan sa Mactan, which is now on its 492nd year.
