Alcords, Beer Gins in final

TEAM Vintage stopped the five-game streak of league-leader Alcords, 93-78 last Thursday for its 2nd win in six games (2-4) in the 2011 First Conference, Vintage Ball Club (VBC) at Pooc Sports Complex, Talisay City.

Alcords though, still leads the standings with a 5-1 win-loss record.

Julius Guba topscored for Vintage with 19 points while Eslalo Gerali and Billy Cañedo added 15 and 14 points, respectively. Rickboy Nacario and Allan Cabrera led Alcords with a game-high 30 and 21 points, respectively.

Earlier, the Beer Gins of Flor Yosores shocked erstwhile leader California, 81-65 to improve to 3-3.

Beer Gins posted a blistering 24-9 lead in the opening period to set the tune for the lopsided win.

Leo Gerasmio and Jonathan Ochia led Beer Gins with 21 and 17 points, respectively while Jonas Lastimosa and Burgeon Bustamante combined for 29 markers. Roy Jumag and Jun Guba paced California with 28 and 10 points, respectively.

Alcords and Beer Gins will face off in a winner-take-all finale tonight at 7 p.m.
