Judge Marigomen laid to rest

JUDGE Douglas Marigomen was laid to rest at the Cebu Memorial Park in barangay Banilad, Cebu City yesterday afternoon.

A requiem Mass was held at the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus at 2 p.m. before the urn containing his cremated remains was entombed.

Marigomen, presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 5 in Cebu City , died in a private hospital last Sunday.

The 52-year-old judge suffered from a liver ailment for two years.

Marigomen did not regain consciousness until he expired last Feb. 17.

RTC Judge Simeon Dumdum Jr. said Marigomen’s death was a big loss in the RTC.

“He was a warm fellow and a sharp judge. We’re saddened by his death and we’re praying for his rest,” Dumdum told reporters.

Marigomen was appointed judge during the time when Dumdum was executive judge of the Cebu City RTC which supervises 22 courts.

Marigomen was appointed RTC judge in 2007. Before that he was connected with the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
