TRISIKAD DRIVER KILLED

A TRISIKAD driver was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City.

Henry Mepiza, 43, died on the spot with multiple gunshot wounds in the back.

Police said Mepiza, a native of Medellin town, northeast Cebu, was killed while waiting for passengers in sitio Mahayahay around 9 p.m. last Monday.

Police said a motorcycle with three men on board arrived and one of the backriders approached Mepiza.

Police said the assailant was heard saying, “Aaha! Dia ra diay ka!” before drawing a gun and shot the victim repeatedly.

The assailant and his companions fled immediately after the attack.

No one was able to see the plate number of the motorcycle, said PO1 Franklin Bulaquia of the homicide section of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

Police said a background check on the victim will be conducted as part of the investigation to identify the assailants and determine the motive of the attack./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

P15T DRUGS SEIZED IN LAPU

SEVERAL  packs of suspected shabu were recovered from a man who was arrested in a buy-bust operation in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City last Monday night.

Police said 52 packs of shabu with an estimated value of P15,000 were seized from Eduardo Cosep, believed to be in his 40s.

Police said Cosep was arrested after selling two packs of suspected shabu worth P500 to a poseur buyer.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PEDEA-7) frisked Cosep and found more packs of shabu from his possession, said PDEA-7 agent Baby Rallos.

Rallos said the operation was made after the PDEA-7 received complains of Cosep’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

TOWN WORKER GUNNED DOWN

A MUNICIPAL employee was found dead in barangay Valencia, Alegria town, Cebu, last Monday afternoon.

Cefreano Guardiario Jr., 38, of barangay Lamakan, was found with several gunshot wounds in the body.

Jojo Liquido, 42, a resident in the area, told police bursts of gunfire broke out ay 1:30 p.m.

Liquido said he checked where the gunfire came from and discovered Guardiario’s body.
