ANS grabs top spot in bracket C

THE Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy took over the top spot in bracket C of the Boys 14 division after eking out a 1-0 win over Bright Academy in yesterday’s action of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup held at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

John Renken scored the lone goal of the game that Allowed ANS Pomeroy to eclipse idle SJS-Mactan at the top of the leaderboard by virtue of its goal difference.

With its second straight win, ANS Pomeroy now has six points and a goal difference of eight points, while SJS-Mactan also has six points but with a  goal difference of only four.

In bracket B, Don Bosco 2 retained the second spot with a 3-0 blanking of University of San Carlos Basic Education (USC-BED).

It now totes seven points coming from two wins and one draw, while USC-BED remains at third with three points after winning just one of its four games so far.

Don Bosco 1 finally won a game in bracket A with a 3-0 thrashing of Hijas de Jesus.

In the Under 23, neither the University of Cebu (UC) and the University of the Visayas (UV) were able to make progress up the ladder after their match ended in a 3-all stalemate.

In the Girls 17, Bright Academy was handed its first win in the tournament on a silver platter after South Hills defaulted in their match.
