TAGBILARAN City, Bohol—Even without the help of former election commissioner and alleged poll fraud operator Virgilio Garcillano, President Aquino expects the filing by the end of this year of the approriate charges in connection with the alleged cheating in the 2004 elections.
President Aquino said the investigation on the alleged fraud and other irregularities under the previous administration continues to be pursued by government.
“And I will be severely disappointed if won’t be able to file charges by the end of this year even without Garcillano,” President Aquino said.
Asked for his reaction to Garcillano’s turning his back on the alleged feelers he sent to Malacanang indicating an intention to tell all that he knows about the 2004 presidential elections, Mr. Aquino said, “Our investigation doesn’t depend on them,”
“If our countrymen are getting impatient (waiting for charges to be filed), it’s because we don’t just file charges. There should be strong proof,” he added.
