Motorist dies in bike-tanker collision

A 48-YEAR-OLD man died after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a fuel tanker in an intersection in Mandaue City.

Wilfred Barz, married, was driving home to barangay Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue when he met the accident at dawn yesterday.

The fatal accident happened at the corners of A.C. Cortes Avenue and Plaridel Street.

The tanker with plate number  YER 649 was driven by Garry Nuena, 30, a resident of barangay Luyang, Carmen town.

Nuena told police that he tried to apply the brakes after seeing the motorcycle going to his direction but it was too late.

The victim had a helmet on during the accident but he still succumbed to multiple injuries in different parts of the body.

The victim died a few minutes after he was brought by paramedics to the Vicente Sotto Medical Center in Cebu City.
