Inmate found dead in Mandaue City jail
POLICE are investigating the death of a 49-year-old inmate, who was found dead in his cell at the Mandaue City Jail yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatality as Jimmy Guido, a resident of barangay Labogon, Mandaue.
Police said Guido was found by a fellow inmate on a sitting position on his bed with a shoelace tied around his neck and the other end tied to a metal bar.
Guido was already unconscious when he was brought to the Mandaue City Hospital where he was declared dead by the attending physician.
Insp. Ramil Morpos, deputy chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch , the relatives of Guido suspected that there was a foul play involved in the inmate’s death.
Morpos said the body will undergo autopsy to determine the cause of death.
