Student found dead
A 19-year-old nursing student was found dead with a gunshot wound in the head in what police believed is a case of suicide in barangay Sabang, Danao City, northern Cebu.
Niña Carresa Armecin, a third year student of a Cebu City university, was found by her mother sprawled in her bedroom past 6 p.m. Wednesday.
A caliber .45 pistol and an empty shell were found beside the body, police said.
PO3 Marlon Remullo, investigator of the Danao police, said they theorized that the woman was pregnant and that she was afraid to inform her parents of her condition.
The victim’s family told police they were not aware if the woman had a boyfriend or had been hounded by personal problems.
The victim’s mother told police that she left home to attend a novena in the neighborhood. The victim was left alone at home.

Article continues after this advertisementThe victim was earlier seen driving a motorcycle and was headed for barangay Suba.
Police said they suspect that the victim went to Suba to get a gun.
The case will be investigated further, police said.
