70-year-old drug vendor nabbed

A SENIOR citizen was arrested after he was caught in possession of suspected illegal drugs inside a nephew’s house during a raid in barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City, last Wednesday.

Juan Baculao, 70, said he was forced to sell illegal drugs to support his old age.

“Kining tinguwang na ta, mangyawat ta nga makakwarta (Because of my age, I’m willing to do anything to earn money),” said Baculao.

Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) raided the house of Junjun Hera, Baculao’s nephew.

Police said Baculao served as the runner of Hera, who was not around during the raid.

Police said they seized from Baculao’s possession four packs of suspected shabu and a .22 Magnum revolver.

“Sugot rako ma-priso hangtod sa hangtod basta pakan-on lang ko adto sa prisohan (I’m willing to be jailed forever as long as I am fed),” said Baculao, who served as a caretaker of the house rented by his nephew.

Hera is based in Cabul-an Island, part of Buenavista town in Bohol province.

Baculao said he earned P1,500 a month, which he used for his and his wife’s daily needs.
