P133T seized, 2 men nabbed in anti-illegal gambling raids

CASH worth P133,400 believed to be proceeds from illegal gambling was recovered when police raided the house of a man allegedly involved in masiao in barangay Busay, Cebu City.

The subject of the raid, Wilfredo Borres Jr., eluded arrest.

Charges will still be filed against Borres although he was able to escape, police said.

Illegal gambling paraphernalia were also seized from the house in last Thursday’s night raid.

A search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Simeon Dumdum was used in the raid.

In barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, police arrested two men who were allegedly collectors of “swertres.”

The arrest of Roger Mendoza, 31, and Jose Aniñon, 24, both residents of baranagay Maguikay, Mandaue City, came after a concerned citizen reported the two men’s alleged illegal activities.

After receiving the tip last Tuesday afternoon, operatives of the police station 3 rushed to the barangay and waited for the two men.

Police said the two men arrived in the area on board a Honda Fit car.

Police said they caught the two men transacting with their alleged coordinator and arrest them.

The alleged coordinator was able to escape.
