A fake policeman armed with just a toy gun has been arrested for leading a group which hijacked a truck carrying P600,000 worth of steel wires in Tondo, Manila.

Fritz Gerard Bonga Edquilante, 29, a resident of Las Piñas City, was apprehended in a follow-up operation on Saturday on R. Salas Street in Ermita, Manila, by operatives of the Manila Police District’s District Police Intelligence Operations Unit (MPD-DPIOU).

During his arrest, he was wearing a Philippine National Police Special Action Force uniform. Seized from him was a fake police identification card and a cal. .45 toy gun, DPIOU head Chief Insp. Daniel Buyao said.
