Don Bosco squads make semifinals

TWO DON BOSCO teams advanced to the semifinals of the players 6 category of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Don Bosco A ruled bracket A with nine points after winning all of its elimination matches while Don Bosco B reigned supreme in bracket B with seven points after winning two games and ending one of its matches in a draw.

Don Bosco A will face bracket B runner-up Giuseppe FC-Gerry’s Grill for a chance to get hold of one of the finals tickets.

Guiseppe FC also tallied seven points but settled as the runner-up after it was eclipsed by Don Bosco B on goal difference. Guiseppe FC and Don Bosco B ended their elimination tussle in a scoreless draw.

Don Bosco B finished with a goal difference of nine points while Giuseppe FC had eight points.

Don Bosco B will be facing Ateneo de Cebu (AdC) in the other semifinals match.

The Magis Eagles ended the elimination as the bracket A runner-up after finishing with six points equivalent to two wins and one loss.

In the men’s open, the Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) FC opened its title bid with a 3-0 outsmarting of Inter Cebu FC at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Don Bosco, on the other hand, is on track to once again dominate the tournament after four of its teams won their matches yesterday.

In the players 8, Don Bosco C routed sister team Don Bosco E, 7-0, Don Bosco lambasted Hijas de Jesus with a 4-1 victory and Don Bosco 3 punished Cebu International School (CIS) with a 5-1 beating. The remaining Don Bosco team which posted a win was its players 10 team, which demolished AdC, 6-0.

Matches for the men’s open and U23 will resume todat at the USC-TC while the Inter-BPO will be held at the Aboitiz Sports Field. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
