Amateur boxer from Leyte stabbed dead in Caloocan City

MANILA, Philippines—An amateur boxer was stabbed to death on Monday night in Caloocan City.

Police identified the victim as Michael Corea, 27, a native of Hilongos, Leyte, and a resident of Amparo Subdivision, Barangay 179, Caloocan City.

Initial investigation showed that the victim was walking on his way home when four unidentified men stabbed him several times. The crime happened sometime between 11 p.m. and midnight on Bulak Street, Amparo Subdivision, case investigator Police Officer 2 Gomer Mappala said.

PO2 Warren Subiaga of the Tala station in Caloocan City said in a phone interview that the victim died while undergoing treatment at the East Avenue Medical Center, Quezon City. Police have yet to arrest the suspects.
