Mataragnon bags title in Trikids girls 11-12 event

AALIYAH Ricci Mataragnon once again proved that she is a force to reckon with among young triathletes after she topped her category in yesterday’s TriKids competition of the 1st leg of the Cebu Loves Triathlon Team Championship Series ongoing in San Remegio.

Not only did Mataragnon clinched the girls 11-12 title, she also bested national developmental pool member Nina Francesca Villaba who came in second.

Mataragnon was more than seven minutes faster than Villaba of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu. She clocked 36 minutes and 01 second while Villaba timed 43:25.

Nyza Archival of the Tri Warriors finished third in 51:56.

FEATURED STORIES

Two other members of the Tri Warriors made it to the top 3 in their respective categories. Nyka Jenin Archival dominated the girls 9-10 class in 29:24, while Jamie Cane placed second in the boys 11-12 in 51:56.

Archival was trailed by Cassandra Saravanan of Trigorgeous while Tammyza Giza Salimbangon of CLS Properties finished third in the girls 9-10.

Cane trailed category winner Ralph Eduard So.

In the girls 6 & under, Mikele Jopson, the daughter of award winning triathletes Noy and Amale Jopson, reigned supreme after finishing her race in 14:07. The young Jopson is a member of Team David’s Salon Kids.

In second and third were X-Tri’s Dhexia Myle Bersabal and Zurielle Kenzie Galo, respectively.

Ruling the boys 6 & Under was Dante Dorr who clocked 11:18 while the girls 7-8 title went to Haydenn Angela Laus of Team Cebu Striders with Eim Espina of Chrstifidelis in second.

The boys 7-8 was dominated by Eduard Russell So while second and third placers were Xeemon Sage Cuyos of F1-Tri-Kids and Laszlo Dorr, respectively.

Aldrich Etienne Alvez topped the boys 9-10 with Bernard Miguel Sy of Team Sy and Jarond Mesina in second and third, respectively. Summit’s Reuter Hanz Velano notched the boys 13-15 title while Dianne Kaye Sy of Team Sy pocketed the girls’ title.    /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
