Marquez vows to be more aggressive against Pacquiao
Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez (54W-6L-1D, 39 KOs) of Mexico has revealed that he is nearing his peak fighting form for his fourth fight against Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao (54W-4L-2D, 38 KOs) on Dec. 9 (Philippine Time) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Marquez has been training at the Romanza gym in Mexico under Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain.
In an article posted on the Spanish language boxing website notifight.com, Marquez was quoted as saying that “We’ve done a lot of preparation, and we know how to fight Pacquiao and how to win. I am convinced that we were superior in the past but the judges have said otherwise. Now we are going to have a victory that leaves no doubt. We are going for the knockout and make clear once and for all who is better,” said Marquez.
Marquez promised to be “faster, more explosive and more aggressive. I will be much better than a year ago. Pacquiao can say whatever he wants, I will be 100 percent prepared to knock him out and offer another great fight to the public.”
Pacquiao on the other hand, made his seventh appearance on the popular American late night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Wednesday evening in the U.S. Guesting on this show has been Pacquiao’s tradition since he fought Miguel Cotto in November 2009.
Pacquiao has subsequently appeared on Kimmel’s show before his fights with Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley, the third bout against Marquez and Timothy Bradley.
Article continues after this advertisementPacquiao however was quoted by reporters who interviewed him at the Wild Card in Los Angeles that he intends to finish stronger.
“I will try not to fight as slowly at the end of this fight as I did in the last three fights,” Pacquiao said. “That is my focus now, I want to finish stronger in this fight.”
