CIM alumna gets award

DR. Celine Teves Aquino, a graduate of the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM) Class 1983, is this year’s Most Outstanding CIM Alumnus awardee (MOCA) .

This is an annual award given to an alumnus in recognition of his/her exceptional achievements in the field of medicine.

Aquino is a researcher and teacher who contributes to the advancement of medicine, with achievements in the academe, administrative, civic and community involvements.

The awarding ceremony will take place on Dec. 8 as part of the week-long celebration of CIM’s 55th founding anniversary.

Aquino is the sister of Dr. Celso Teves Jr., and the sister-in-law of Dr. Jocelyn Aquino-Alcantara and Dr. Melinda Aquino-Ortiz. Her husband is Dr. Reuben John Aquino.

She had her residency training in Internal Medicine from the Southern Islands Medical Center (now Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center). She had her fellowship in Adult Cardiology and Research fellowship in Peripheral Vascular Medicine and Biology at St. Luke’s Heart Institute in Quezon City.

Currently, she is the head of Cebu Velez General Hospital’s Department of Medicine Cardiology section, training officer of the Department of Medicine, Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital. She is also the head of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center’s Non-invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory and associate professor of the Cebu Institute of Medicine.
