Azkalitos dump San Roque in hoops opener

DEFENDING champion Azkalitos routed San Roque, 109-89, at the start of the annual Holy Family Basketball Club basketball tournament at the Mabolo Sports Complex.

Rookie Kervin Mutia led the Azkalitos with 18 points, Pare Palacios had 16 while Russel and Ryan Militante added 12 markers each. Justine Delos Reyes, Frans Lepiten and Nadel Luther chipped in 10 points each.

The Azkalitos tore the game apart in the second quarter where it outscored San Roque, 22-6 and never relented its attack the rest of the way.

San Roque was able to cut its deficit to 10 in the middle of the third period costly miscues and turn-overs did them in.

San Roque was led by Yanyan Benzi and Melboy Jardin who both scored 22 points.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
