Brand, Train post wins at start of 2012 Vintage hoop

VINTAGE Brand crushed Vintage Bomb, 86-76, while Vintage Train nipped Vintage Ship, 82-80, last Tuesday night at the start of the Vintage Ball Club Inc. (VBCI) 2012 3rd Conference basketball tournament at the barangay Pooc Sports Complex, Talisay City.

Vintage Brand led by three points in the openng period, 18-15 but Vintage Bomb responded with a 25-17 run in the second to rule the half, 40-35.

However, Brand unloaded a, 25-11 bomb in the third quarter for a, 10-point lead, 61-51, entering the final quarter where it maintained its double-digit lead.

Rickboy Nacario and Cesar Alcordo scattered 20 and 16 points to lead Vintage Brand, while Islao Gerale and Leo Gerasmeo paced Vintage Bomb with 19 and 16 points, respectively.

In the main game, Vintage Train and Vintage Ship engaged in an air-tight battle resulting in an 81-80, lead by the former with 5 seconds remaining with center Dax Tenedora in the stripe. However, Tenedora missed both freethrows and in the return play, Billy Canedo canned one of his own freebies for Vintage Train’s two-point win.

Canedo and Jun Guba led Vintage Train with 22 and 16 points, respectively, while Allan Cabrera and Ric Abatayo paced Vintage Ship with 23 and 20 markers.
