MANILA, Philippines—A new low pressure area was spotted near Basco, Batanes as Typhoon “Karen” left the country’s area of responsibility, the weather bureau said Monday.
The LPA was estimated at 400 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes as of 2 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
“Metro Manila will experience occasional light to moderate rains and thunderstorms,” Pagasa said, adding that “moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the Southwest will prevail and Manila Bay will be moderate to occasionally rough.”
Occasional light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced in Mimaropa, Bicol region and Western Visayas, said Pagasa.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, Pagasa said.
“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the north to northwest will prevail over northern and Central Luzon and coming from the southwest over the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough,” Pagasa said.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest with slight to moderate seas, Pagasa added.
