Professionals may shop, get IDs at same time

Filipino professionals may now renew their Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) identification cards at the malls.

“They may file their applications for ID renewal and claim the IDs at the malls, at their own time and at their own convenience, sans the hassle of long queues,” said Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz during Friday’s simultaneous opening of the PRC ID Renewal Centers in 13 malls in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Baldoz said the project was a public-private partnership between SM Mart Inc. and the Bureau of Treasury.

The 13 PRC ID Renewal Centers are located in the SM Mall of Asia, SM Novaliches, SM Marikina, SM Masinag, SM Manila, SM Quiapo, SM Harrison Plaza, SM Sta. Mesa and SM Sucat, and in the four SM malls in Bacoor and Dasmariñas, Cavite;  Calamba, Laguna, and Lipa City, Batangas.

“The Department of Labor and Employment and all its offices, including the PRC, have always been looking for ways to improve their services to the public. Now with the PRC’s ID renewal system at the malls, Filipino professionals can renew their PR IDs without having to wait in long queues,” said Baldoz.

“Under this public-private partnership, the PRC is extending its services even during weekends and after government office hours, making things easier for busy Filipino professionals,” she added.

The renewal centers are open seven days a week during mall hours, said PRC chairperson Teresita Manzala.

After submitting  an ID application renewal, the PRC ID should be available after seven working days.
