MANILA, Philippines—The appointment of incoming Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas has been filed with the Commission on Appointments Tuesday, the agency’s officer-in-charge Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. said.
Speaking before the House committee on appropriations during the deliberations on the Department of Interior and Local Government’s proposed funding of P91 billion for next year, Ochoa said they were hopeful that Roxas’ appointment will be approved soon.
Roxas was appointed to take charge of the DILG last week by President Benigno Aquino III. He is taking over the post left vacant after the untimely demise of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.
Cavite Representative Joseph Emilio Abaya will replace Roxas as chief of the Department of Transportation and Communications.
