Police collar armed tanod

A BARANGAY tanod was arrested when he allegedly intervened in a police operation in barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

Elibrando Taborada, 43, a tanod in the barangay yielded a .22 revolver when he was arrested by members of the Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) team past midnight yesterday.

SWAT members conducting a checkpoint on A Lopez Street tried to stop Roderick Taborada whom police said acted suspiciously.

Roderick, 34, ignored the policemen and ran.

Police chased the man until he was cornered.

Police said Elibrando arrived and questioned the arrest.

Police frisked Elibrando and seized a gun from him.

Police said a pack of suspected shabu was recovered from Roderick’s possession.

The same arresting team seized a video carrera and moli-moli machines in B. Aranas Street in barangy Duljo-Fatima past 10 a.m. Thursday.

Police found the illegal gambling machines in the interior portion of the barangay while they were looking for a motorist who evaded a checkpoint./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
