Cebu media excellence awards moved to Sept. 18

GLOBE Telecom announced that the first Cebu Media Excellence Awards ceremonies will be moved to Sept. 18 from Sept. 21 to coincide with the election of new officers of the Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ).

The Cebu Media Excellence Awards is launched by Globe to pay tribute and give recognition to print, broadcast and digital media practitioners who have excelled in the profession and practice of journalism in Cebu.

The awarding ceremonies will be one of the activities lined up in celebration of the Cebu Press Freedom Week held every third week of September, the week that marks the declaration of Martial Law on Sept. 21, 1972.

During the Martial Law period, civil liberties were suspended and congress and media outlets were padlocked. Freedom was restored People Power Revolution of 1986.

Globe has been supporting the annual gathering of Cebu beat reporters, the Press Freedom Week.
