Cebu-Korea Friendship Week ongoing

The first observance of Cebu-Korea Friendship Week will enable Cebuanos to experience Korean culture mostly through food.

The week-long event initiated by Parkmall with the support of the Cebu Koreans Association from Aug. 20 to 25 features daily Korean cultural presentations from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A Korean market opened during the launching of the event.

On Aug. 22 and 23, free cooking demonstrations of Korean recipes like sweet and sour pork, dakangjung (spicy fried chicken with peanuts) and topokki were conducted at Parkmall by Korean restaurants Topokki Man and Hongtang.

The demonstration cookout will run until today, Aug. 24 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the same venue.

Meanwhile, another presentation that will form part of the week-long celebration is the personal beauty hygiene exhibitor Dolled Up Make Up Studio, which will demonstrate Korean make-up tips.

The event will culminate tomorrow, Aug. 25 with a cultural presentation by KPop Dance Performance from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Korean exhibitors include Assi Mart, Han Guk Kwan Restaurant, Chosun Chicken, AllKor fashion, Kirsten Jenryl Fashion and Travel Vision Inc., among others.

All activities are open to the public.
