KILLED IN DRINKING BOUT

A 34-YEAR-OLD miner was shot dead by a habal-habal driver after they argued in a drinking session in barangay Lawaan, Danao City, northern Cebu.

Loreto Matiga, 34, died on the spot from a  gunshot wound in the head.

The victim was a worker of DD Mining and resident of Danao city.

Matiga and the suspect Jhonel Siangan, 33, of barangay Lawa-an, Danao, were drinking with friends when they argued last Monday night.

During their quarrel, Siangan drew a .357 revolver and shot the victim, said SPO1 Bryan Batiquin of the Danao City police.

VILLAGE EXEC’S SON NABBED

A SON of a councilman is facing a complaint of malicious mischief after he destroyed the building of a day center in barangay Malolos, Barili town, southern Cebu.

Ernie Manigos, 29, son of Malolos barangay councilor Diomedes Manigos, was arrested after yesterday’s incident.

Manigos admitted destroying the extension building of the barangay’s day care center. He said it was  built on a lot owned by their family, said PO3 Heinie Aspera of the Barili police.

Barangay treasurer Ernest Carmel Jurado reported to the Barili police that led to Ernie’s arrest.

Estimated property damage  was pegged at P80,000, said police.

Ernie will be brought to the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office today for the filing of charges against him, said police./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

MAN FOUND HANGING DEAD

A MAN was found hanging dead in his home in barangay Sambag Uno, Cebu City.

Noel Hilacan was found suspended from the beam of his room last Monday afternoon with a nylon rope tied around his neck.

Police said there were no signs of foul play in the man’s death.
