CEBU’S TOP netter Arthur Craig “Igi” Diaz Pantino advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 16-under category of the Olivarez-Philta Open Tennis Championships yesterday at the Olivarez Sports Center in Sucat Paranaque.
Pantino blanked Jacob Co, 6-0, 6-0, last Sunday and defeated Jose Nicolas Cano, 6-1, 6-2, yesterday enroute to clinching a Final 8 spot, where he faces second-seed Jed Eric Olivarez.
In the boys 14-under category, the third-seeded Pantino faces Vincent Alanis tomorrow for a chance at a quarters berth.
Should the Philippine Tennis Academy-trained Pantino survive Alanis, he will go up against Brysl Libao next. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
