Police trace source of fake bills

POLICE are on the lookout for group of people who may be spreading fake money bills in Cebu City.

Last Tuesday, representatives of the Center Premier International Language Study (CPILS) turned over to the police four fake P1,000 bills.

They asked the theft and robbery section (TRS) of the Cebu City Police Office to find the people spreading the fake money.

Insp. Rolando Pinili, chief of TRS, said they will coordinate with city jail officials to find out if the persons arrested for spreading fake money bills have already been released.

Pinili said they would check if these persons are still involved in spreading counterfeit bills.

Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB), said there could be a proliferation of fake money bills for the coming elections.

Police warned financial and commercial establishments to be extra careful when accepting money.

“I’m sure there is a group  behind this. They will try to sell the fake money bills and at the same time scatter them,” said Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, chief of the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7)./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON AND PIT INTERN RYAN N. WENCESLAO
