A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl was allegedly raped twice by her 13-year-old brother in barangay Cañorong, Samboan town, southern Cebu.
The girl reported to her mother after the second abuse, said police.
The girl said the latest assault happened Sunday morning while their mother was in a neighbor’s house selling coconut husks. The siblings’ father is a fisherman based in Palawan.
Insp. Abell Laborte, chief of the Samboan police, said the children were playing a card game and when the girl couldn’t pay, the brother punched her and sexually abused her, said police.
The girl said she was first raped under their house last Saturday.
The mother reported to the police after learning about the abuse.
Police turned over the the girl to the care of social workers.
She was brought to the MJ Cuenco Memorial Hospital in Malabuyoc town then to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
Police said there were theft complaints against the boy but since he’s a minor was not detained under Republic Act 9344 or the Juvenile and Justice Welfare Act of 2006.
A charge of rape will be filed against the 13-year-old boy within the week at the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, said police./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
