Teen robber arrested in Malate

A teenager was arrested while his cohorts escaped after they robbed a Korean national inside his vehicle yesterday in Manila.

Senior Police Officer 1 Jonathan Bautista of the Manila Police District’s General Assignments section said that lawmen caught 18-year-old Mark Jay Huarde although his four companions were able to flee right after they held up Jung Sun Her, 34, at the Remedios Circle in Malate, Manila, around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

“Her’s vehicle was parked in the area when the five suspects forcibly opened [the door] and snatched from the victim his necklace worth P10,000,” he said.

He added that the other robbers stood in front of the vehicle to keep it from moving. Huarde was arrested after several hours when he was spotted by a barangay watchman Donie playing video games on Quirino Avenue in Malate. He was later positively identified by Her as the one who stole his necklace, Bautista said. Jamie Marie Elona
