Trader stabbed dead

/ 11:06 PM July 31, 2012

A 27-year-old trader was killed by robbers who posed as “kuliglig” (motorized pedicab) drivers in Binondo, Manila, around 11 p.m. on Monday.

Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez of the Manila Police District homicide section identified the victim as Lirong Yang, a native of Fujian, China.

Benitez said in his report that the victim boarded the suspects’ vehicle on Asuncion Street but she was divested of her bag and cell phone at the corner of Muelle Street by the driver and his cohort.

The victim tried to fight off the two men but they stabbed her. A security guard noticed the commotion and shouted, prompting the suspects to flee in their pedicab. Nancy C. Carvajal
