2 low pressure areas, SW monsoon to bring rain over PH–Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines – Two weather disturbances and a southwest monsoon were forecast to bring rains in the country over the next few days, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

At 2 p.m. the low pressure areas were monitored 860 kilometers east of Mindanao and 320 km east-northeast of Tuguegarao City, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

“Northern and Central Luzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over extreme Northern Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides Southern Luzon and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms,” it also said.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas, Pagasa said.
