Livelihood trainings for Leyteños
THE Banilad Center for Professional Development (BCPD) in Banilad, Cebu City, has implemented short-term livelihood courses in the provinces of Biliran and Leyte.
A total of 30 training sessions were attended by the more than 500 participants.
“I appreciated the training since I learned more things,” a participant in the dried fish processing training said.
The BCDP helped the trainees organize themselves and link them with the local government units for support for future projects.
The participants applied what they learned from the training by venturing into entrepreneurial activities. Others have expanded their existing business.
The program was done in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry.
BCPD is a technical-vocational school that offers courses accredited by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), such as Hotel and Restaurant Services.
The center has been getting financial and technical support for the past six years from Reledev and Australian government, which initiated the school’s business development services unit to extend expertise to the nearby communities of Cebu.
