MANILA, Philippines – “Improved weather” is expected Thursday, the state-run weather bureau said, even as a southwest monsoon and a low pressure area continued to drench parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, Wednesday.

The low pressure area was spotted 250 kilometers northwest of Iba, Zambales, and may be outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility Thursday, on its way to Vietnam, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 5p.m. bulletin.

But before this, Pagasa advised the public to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, lightning, strong winds and possible flashfloods as thunderstorms were likely to develop in the next 12 hours.

The whole country will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the western section of Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, Pagasa said.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from southwest to south will prevail over Northern Luzon and coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas.
